Why The Aster Project?
The City of Logansport has graciously donated the land to build five houses along Aster Street. While possibly named after a local family, the Aster is a beautiful flower whose name is derived from the Greek word for star. For all these reasons, HFHCC has chosen to call this work The Aster Project and is pleased to announce plans to build 5 houses along Aster Street by the end of 2027.
Who is invited?
HFHCC is pleased to announce plans to complete five houses along Aster Street by the end of 2027. As a valued member of the Cass County Community, you are invited to join in building a house with a local family in need of affordable homeownership. The goal is to build houses in which volunteer labor and funding is provided by a variety of community partners- Businesses, Churches, Community Organizations, Financial Institutions, and a plethora of individuals. This is a house-raising… everyone is invited! That includes you!
How can you help?
Construction– HFHCC can use volunteers of all skill levels. Whether you’re an experienced construction worker or not even sure about swinging a hammer, there’s a place for you to help. Maybe your church or business has a group that would like to spend a day together working alongside Habitat’s future homeowner. Check out our website to choose dates to volunteer. Hospitality– Volunteers get hungry. Not sure you want to pick up a hammer and nails? The hospitality committee could use more people getting groups involved with
providing meals on work days. Talk to us about arranging a day for your group to help with this.
Family Support– There is a lot that goes into helping a family prepare to be homeowners. From mentors to talk through concerns and pray with families to financial experts willing to sit down with familes to discuss budgeting and preparedness, to people who are willing to share what it takes to ensure a home stays in good shape, we need people involved. Talk to us if you’d like to know more about how you can come alongside our families to prepare them for success.
Donations– Habitat builds are made possible by the generosity of the community. Sponsors for construction materials and contractors for specialized work are needed.
